What I Wore Today #53

Craig of That Dapper Chap shares what he wore today in an outfit by Racing Green

Today’s look is from the Racing Green collection available in stores and online at Debenhams. I actually ordered the items in preparation for the event that I attended to launch Ben Fogle as the face of their High Summer Range, but having ordered late, it unfortunately didn’t arrive for the event so I thought I’d share it with you now.

The jacket is the blue textured wool blend blazer. in 57% wool it’s a jacket that’s easily dressed up or down and could easily become a wardrobe staple as it’s so easy to wear. In a regular fit, with three external pockets and two internal pockets, it also has a contrasting under collar to add a bit of extra interest when you turn up the collar to keep out the wind.

┬áPlease note when ordering yours that Racing Green tend to be on the generous size. I usually wear a 40″ chest but this one is a 38″ and fits very well.

With blue and yellow being contrasting colours on the colour wheel, and therefore complimentary, I picked the yellow Oxford shirt. in 100% cotton, it’s a tailored fit. Again I chose a size smaller and am wearing a size small. I don’t have a lot of yellow in my wardrobe but it seems to suit me and it’s perfect for summer so I’m glad I took the plunge.

I accessorised with the Timex Fairfield Weekender watch and switched the strap for a grey Nato band to compliment the look. Today’s bag is by John Rocha and was from the range at Debenhams. While it’s no longer available there are some great bags to choose from in his range.

The shoes are the tan leather and blue suede ‘Gatsby’ shoes from London Brogues. They always seem to get a lot of admiring glances when I wear them and I think they suit this look and elevate it to a slightly smarter appearance.

The bicycle lapel pin and printed pocket square add additional personality, finishing with the matching bead bracelets.

The navy chinos are also by Racing Green and come with the plaited elastic belt. I’m a fan of elastic belts like this as at some point with a regular belt you get to a point where you’re ‘between holes’ which is quite frustrating as it then becomes one of three choices: Wear your trousers loose, wear them tight of ruin the belt by making another hole, none of which are conducive to a good look!

I hope you approve of today’s look. Feel free to leave a comment below. Have you tried Racing Green? What are your thoughts?

    Hi,

The shoes on the shop look a lot darker even different color than yours. Are they the same or not and if yes, which photo is more akin to original? Great look btw.

    Thank you!

      Hi Ralfi,

Thanks for your question. I agree, the ones online do look a darker colour to mine. It may be my image as it was quite a bright day. But these are the same shoes.
